Beginning 15:17 CDT today 03/28 the WiscNet NOC observed alarms indicating a backbone event on our network. Our partner provider has been engaged and confirmed a fiber cut between Onalaska and Lacrosse, WI. A tech has been dispatched and is on site at this time to shoot OTDR to locate the damaged fiber. Splice crews are in the area and are standing by pending the damaged fiber to be located.
As additional inforamtion is received, we will update accordingly.
The NOC engaged Spectrum for an RFO for the observed disruption. Spectrum has advised that the reason for outage was a loss of light from the equipment on site at Kenosha.

WiscNet has provided logs of our monitoring system to our partners and have opened a general trouble ticket to track the update on the investigation of this widespread issue. The update as off minutes ago is that GLS has escalated the ticket to engineers.

As discussed with Bruce, the NOC ran a continuous ping for 15 minutes and was not able to observe any packet loss. Bruce advised he will call back in when the packet loss occurs to have the NOC re-test. We are also pending our partner provider to investigate any potential circuit issues. The NOC will provide further updates as we obtain them.
The NOC has received your report of link flaps and packet-loss observed on your circuit. The NOC is actively Investigating and will provide updates once further details are provided.
